New ABA Death Penalty Publication

The ABA Criminal Justice Section’s book, The State of Criminal Justice 2024, is in the process of being published. As the publication does each year, the book will include a chapter on capital punishment developments. The chapter is authored by Ronald J. Tabak. A copy of this chapter can be accessed here.

As the publication reports, in 2023, Florida was among only five states that conducted an execution in 2023 and only seven states that sentenced someone to death. The chapter also includes a part on Florida’s statutory change in 2023, which the publication names “perhaps the most cynical death penalty development.”
