New Death Warrant: Darryl Barwick

Governor DeSantis has signed a death warrant for Darryl Barwick.

BREAKING: Governor DeSantis has signed a death warrant for Darryl Barwick scheduling the execution for May 3, 2023.

Louis Gaskin remains on death watch with an execution scheduled for April 12, 2023.

Unlike Donald Dillbeck (executed February 23, 2023) and Gaskin, both of whom were sentenced to death after the jury voted 8-4 to recommend death, the jury unanimously recommended a sentence of death in Barwick’s case—on retrial. In his original trial, the jury’s vote was 9-3.

It has been a long time since more than one inmate was on death watch at the same time in Florida.
