Miami-Dade County: Life verdicts for Daniel Lugo and Noel Doorbal at resentencing
On Friday, resentencing juries reached a life verdict for both Lugo and Doorbal.
Daniel Lugo and Noel Doorbal were sentenced to death for crimes that occurred in 1995. The jury recommended death for Doorbal by a vote of 8-4 for two counts of first-degree murder.1 The jury recommended death for Lugo by a vote of 11-1 for two counts of first-degree murder.2
After Hurst, both Lugo and Doorbal were granted resentencing.3
According to news reports (linked below), the three-week resentencing ended Friday with a life verdict for both Lugo and Doorbal—reached by separate, twin juries. The docket does not reflect the juries’ verdicts, but the video below from NBC6 shows the trial court reading the juries’ verdicts:
