Litigation related to Duane Owen's execution (scheduled June 15, 2023) is currently pending in both the Florida Supreme Court and circuit court in Bradford County.
In essence, the court is saying he's not mentally ill while in the same breath saying he has ASPD - a mental illness!! Not to mention the fact that the people they interviewed are NOT professionals in the field of psychology! And what if they spoke against Duane Owen out of spite? It was unethical for those people to even be interviewed when it was supposed to be a psychological evaluation ONLY!!
Hi, Cheryl. Thanks for reading and for your comment! I just wanted to clarify one point - that the opinion was by the Commission (the three doctors appointed by Gov. DeSantis). The circuit court has not issued any determination on this issue yet.
Thank you for the clarification. But if the Commission says it, it's likely the courts will back it up. 😔 They're going to execute this man on my birthday. All I want for my birthday is clemency for Duane Owen. We're holding a protest and vigil from 5-6 p.m. June 15th outside the Broward County Courthouse in Ft. Lauderdale. We'll have signs, or people can make their own. Join us if you can. I'm not completely out of Hope, but I also know Florida and how DEATHSantis is. Hopefully we won't have to have a vigil, but...
